Distributing Pre-Issued Codes with No Code Distribution
Introduction
No Code Distribution is a distribution method that lets you validate codes you have already generated and issued to customers outside of Uniqodo. Rather than Uniqodo creating and issuing codes, you upload an existing set of codes, and Uniqodo validates against them when a customer attempts to redeem.
This is useful when codes have already reached your customers through an offline or external channel, for example, unique codes printed on promotional leaflets, or codes issued through another system, and you now want to use Uniqodo to check those codes and apply the reward. You still get the full power of the promotion engine's rewards and validation; you are simply bringing your own codes rather than having Uniqodo generate them.
Info: No Code Distribution is a distribution method set on a Standard promotion. If you instead want to distribute codes that you do not want Uniqodo to validate at all, such as codes managed entirely by a third party, see Distributing Third-Party Codes with Code Import & Distribution. The two are easy to confuse; the key difference is whether Uniqodo validates the codes.
Setting Up a Promotion with No Code Distribution
- Visit https://your.uniqodo.com/ and log in to your account.
- Create a new promotion and complete the Main Settings as usual, setting the promotion title, start and end dates, and times.
- For Promotion Type, select Standard Promotion.
- Continue to Distribution Settings and choose No Code Distribution Required as the distribution method.
- Click Next and work through the remaining steps as you would for any standard promotion: set the Reward, configure your Code Settings, and define your Validation Settings to control who qualifies for the reward.
Because this is a Standard promotion, all the usual reward and validation steps apply. When the promotion is live, Uniqodo will validate each code a customer enters against the codes you have uploaded and against any qualifying rules you have set, for example order value or product category, before issuing the reward.
Uploading Your Codes
At the Code Settings step you will upload the codes you want to validate against.
Your file must meet the following requirements:
- The file must be a
.csvfile. - The first row must be a header row representing the column names (for example,
code). - The first column is a text value containing the unique code to import.
- The second column is a text value containing the user identifier.
Important: Once you have uploaded your codes to a No Code Distribution promotion, there is no way to add further codes to that set. This method expects the complete set of codes to be uploaded at the start. If you later need to validate additional codes, you will need to create a separate promotion.
Summary
No Code Distribution lets you bring codes you have already issued outside of Uniqodo and have the platform validate them against your reward and qualification rules. It suits a fixed, one-off set of codes, such as those from an offline campaign, where no further codes will be added after the initial upload.
